Who Are The Taco Boys?
A Cornish based food truck parked up at Baby Bay in Polzeath. Taco Boys was formed by a group of young friends who met while running the kitchen at the St.Enodoc Hotel in Rock. After years of fine dining and Michelin standard cooking, the boys were hungry to bring their flavours to a wider audience. One bad tattoo and a couple of nights in a yurt later the Taco Boys was formed. They left the hotel put their pockets together and bought a horse-box, the rest is kind of folklore.
The idea started as a dream of freedom to create and produce food with no limitations or expectations. Using local Cornish produce in an innovative and effective manner, without the pressures of meeting certain financial figures or pleasing certain crowds.
Felix Craft previously of AnnaLena and Menu Gordon Jones is the chef behind the boys. Mainly based in the off site prep kitchen, but often found at the beach seeking out a wave or trying his favourite Tacos.
Robbie Ashby fronts up the service side of life, and his immediate warmth and quick wit is refreshingly backed up by his knowledge and passion all things taco related. When he's not on the truck he can be found in the water. The sponge enthusiast can even be seen out on his green boogie board in between busy shifts.
The team extends itself to a number of close friends, family and local chefs. Blaise Shiel, Jevan Davies and Ellie Fitch-Goodwin are behind the team that brings a new wave of beachside cuisine to New Polzeath. Working together for a number of years now the team have built an exceptional friendship and strong support system.
With half the team enjoying the powder of the Alps and the other half chasing the winter swells back home. The Taco Boys are excited to return to Baby Bay for the summer of 2020.
The winter rose time for opportunities to link up with other local creatives. After a collaboration in merchandise with local surf artist Clara Jonas, leading to the release of Art Series 01, available online now. It became clear there was a need for a platform to promote these local talents and plans to open a local-life-style store in Polzeath are quickly becoming a reality. For now the online store can fulfil your fix of Taco Boy life.
